For so long I let fear - or more specifically, my fear of failure- get the best of me when it came to my business.
"There's no way people would pay me to photograph their wedding."
"What if I mess up?"
"There's photographers that are WAY better than me, why would I even try to compete with them?"
These are the thoughts that have been running through my head for years. I knew I loved photography, and always dreamed of doing it professionally ever since I got my first camera on my 7th birthday. What I didn't know, or believe, was that I could make a living doing it. For months, even years, I flew under the radar when it came to photography, only booking jobs of friends or clients who were recommended to me from my inner circle. I was too afraid to fully put myself out there, or even call myself a photographer because I never thought I was good enough. In the last year, however, I decided to stop getting in my own way and take the leap, saying "yes" to the one thing that terrified me most about my industry - being a wedding photographer.
Now, I'm not going to say it's been easy, because it has not. It has absolutely been one of the hardest things I have ever done. The hours I have spent shooting, culling and editing photos are more than I have spent on anything else in my life, but it is SO worth it. The experiences I have had with my clients have been so incredible, and the feeling I get when I show up to a wedding, camera in hand, and walk in to see the bride getting ready, knowing I am about to be the one who gets to document the best day of her life is indescribable.
I have quickly come to realize that this is what has been missing in my business over the last 5 years. I absolutely love the planning side of weddings, as well as the styling and design, but wedding photography is something that I have now begun to officially include in my arsenal of services.
Events by Emily Summer was the name I chose for myself when I first started on this crazy adventure, and it has served me well. However, it is now time to make a change in order to better
reflect the entirety of my skills and passions in my work.
So, behold, EMILY SUMMER STUDIOS has been born. I am still an event planner, I still love to plan and style weddings, but it was imperative for me to incorporate more creativity and design into my business. I now formally offer Wedding Photography, as well as a variety of other photography services AND a multitude of custom design services. Whether that is creating your Save the Dates for your big day, designing custom rental items and decor for your wedding or event, or providing you with the designs or templates you need for your own business.
I am so excited to embark on this new path and truly appreciate the support I have received from each and every one of you.
Now presenting ...
I can't wait to serve you in all of your event, photography or design needs!
